Lenara dried guava is made from local guava fruit. An orchard of TSG2 guava was established at Lenara farm near Shangani primarily for production of fruit for processing. TSG2 is an improved variety of Fan Retief (the common pink fleshed guava) with larger fruit and similar fruit flesh to fruit breadth ratio. This product is made from guava, sugar and lemon or lime juice only. No colorants or preservatives are added. Freshly squeezed lemon/lime juice is used as an antidarkening and antimicrobial treatment in place of sodium metabisulphite, to cater for people who are sensitive to sulphur and sulphite containing products. Since the product is naturally air dried with no sulphur dioxide, it will darken over time BUT this will not alter its flavour. Only 6% sugar is added during the drying process, which is necessary to obtain a texture that is soft enough to chew when dry. Lenara dried guava is tartly sweet and is a healthy alternative snack to candy. It has high levels of folic acid, potassium, dietary fiber, and vitamins C and A. Shelf Life This product will maintain its quality for up to six months with proper storage. Packaging: 50g pieces in clear cello bags or clear stand-up pouches. Bulk sold in kilograms
