Freshly squeezed lemon/lime juice is used as an antidarkening and antimicrobial treatment in place of sodium metabisulphite, to cater for people who are sensitive to sulphur and sulphite containing products. Since the product is naturally air dried with no sulphur dioxide, it will darken over time BUT this will not alter its flavour. Only 6% sugar is added during the drying process, which is necessary to obtain a texture that is soft enough to chew when dry. Lenara dried guava is tartly sweet and is a healthy alternative snack to candy. It has high levels of folic acid, potassium, dietary fiber, and vitamins C and A.
